2024/25 Spring Audition Window: April 8-13, 2024
Taking Students to the Next Level
The Mainly Mozart Youth Orchestra’s renowned instructors each have decades of teaching experience. Students also have the opportunity to rehearse and perform side-by-side with members of the Mainly Mozart Festival Orchestra, the largest gathering of concertmasters and principal players from major orchestras across the country.

SUZUKI COMETS
Instructor: Lynne-Marie Friedrichs
Rehearsal Day and Time: Saturday, 9:00AM - 9:50AM
2024/25 Tuition Amount: $800
Suzuki Comets provides group class instruction for young violin, viola and cello students. Students will develop ensemble and technical skills to prepare for advancement to Beginning Strings. Note reading will be introduced. Suzuki Comets perform on stage in MMYO all-ensemble concerts. Parent attendance is required at all Suzuki Comets rehearsals and concerts.
Audition Requirements:
Video recording of a solo piece of your choice.
Video recording of a one octave D major scale with the rhythm of your choice.
Students must be studying with a private teacher outside of MMYO.
BEGINNING STRINGS
Instructor: Robyn Glasson
Rehearsal Day and Time: Saturday, 10:00AM - 11:00AM
2024/25 Tuition Amount: $800
Beginning Strings is a Level One string orchestra. Students are taught rhythms that span from simple meter whole notes, half notes, quarter notes and eighth notes dotted rhythms and compound meter. Beginning Strings students prepare for advancement into Intermediate Strings.
INTERMEDIATE STRINGS
Instructor: Robyn Glasson
Rehearsal Day and Time: Saturday, 11:10AM - 12:45PM
2024/25 Tuition Amount: $850
Intermediate Strings is a Level 2 - Level 3 String Orchestra Ensemble. Audition Requirements include two octave Major and minor scales and Orchestral Excerpts. During the MMYO season, Intermediate Strings students are exposed to repertoire with the inclusion of flat keys and increasing rhythmic difficulty, Intermediate Strings students prepare for advancement into Intermediate Orchestra.
CONCERT BAND
Instructor: Frank Glasson
Rehearsal Day and Time: Saturday, 3:00PM - 4:30PM
2024/25 Tuition Amount: $850
Concert Band is an intermediate level Brass, Woodwind and Percussion ensemble. In addition to giving outstanding concert performances, Concert Band students audition for placement into MMYO Intermediate Orchestra and Advanced Orchestra. Mr. Glasson works closely with Mr. Constantino to integrate these students into dual-functioning band and orchestral musicians of the highest caliber.
INTERMEDIATE ORCHESTRA
Instructor: Hernan Constantino
Rehearsal Day and Time: Saturday, 1:00PM - 2:45PM
2024/25 Tuition Amount: $900
The MMYO Intermediate Orchestra is a Level 3.5 - Level 5 Full Orchestra. Audition requirements for strings include two and three octave Major and minor scales and Orchestral Excerpts. Intermediate Orchestra students play arrangements and original orchestral repertoire of both string only and full orchestral complement. Intermediate Orchestra students prepare for advancement into Advanced Orchestra.
*Winds, brass, and percussion students in Intermediate Orchestra are also required to play in Concert Band.
ADVANCED ORCHESTRA
Instructor: Hernan Constantino
Rehearsal Day and Time: Saturday, 9:30AM - 12:30PM
2024/25 Tuition Amount: $1050
The MMYO Advanced Orchestra is a Level 6 and up Full Orchestra. Audition requirements for strings include three octave Major and minor scales and traditional Orchestral Excerpts prepared for professional auditions. Advanced Orchestra students perform original orchestral repertoire of both string only and full orchestral complement.
