Intermediate Orchestra and Advanced Orchestra Instructor
Hernan Constantino is in his 4th season with the Mainly Mozart Youth Orchestra as Music Director and Conductor of the Intermediate and Advanced Orchestras. Born and raised in the Philippines, Mr. Constantino was
inspired to take violin lessons because of his father’s love of the instrument. At nineteen, he left the Philippines for the United States, upon receiveing a full scholarship to the Philadelphia College of Performing Arts. He continued his violin studies under Dorothy DeLay, Hyo Kang and William DePasquale; chamber music under Joseph and William DePasquale; and conducting under Joseph Primavera.
In 1990, Mr. Constantino won a position with the San Diego Symphony. He has lived and worked here ever since. Mr. Constantino also teaches privately at his studio, Solosoli, and is an active member of the Music Teachers Association of California. As a conductor, his credits include the Oregon Coast Music Festival, Interlochen Arts Camp and the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra. He has held posts with such respected organizations as the Pennsylvania Ballet Orchestra, Portland Opera Orchestra, and West Coast Chamber Orchestra.
